My experience working with Song has been one of the greatest, and most frustrating at the same time. I have presented a contract by Song that I had to sign, and right away I knew that she was different from the other editors that I had in the past. I now expect all of my other editors in the future to also give me a written contract that they signed so I know that they’re serious about their job. When I got my book back, I also received an excel spreadsheet of all of my characters, a document going into detail on the things I did wrong and Song didn’t just tell me the answer, she gave me sources to look at so I can find the answer myself. Which is good because that means if you truly want a good book, you’re going to need to go through the sources to make it a good book. Song isn’t just going to say change plot A to plot B and then you copy it. She is going to give you a source, so you can understand why plot A doesn’t work and what you might do differently for plot B.

Song is willing to put in as much work as you are willing to give as well. If you’re passionate about your book and is willing to go the extra mile then Song is willing to do that too. With all of that said, the fact that she doesn’t give you a straight answer is a bit frustrating but is also all the more rewarding once you finally understand why she said that maybe plot A doesn’t work after all. I rather learned why my mistakes don’t work instead of someone telling me it doesn’t work then giving me the correct answers.
